Women’s Health Day

Women’s health care agencies from across the state will converge at the State Capitol for Women’s Health Day at the Capitol Monday, March 22, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The theme is “Healthy Women. Healthy Oklahoma.”

With the economic downturn, many find themselves with limited or no access to essential services, such as mental health, reproductive health, cancer screenings, HIV/AIDS, and domestic violence and sexual assault.

Women’s Health Day Health Fair participants will bring attention to the important health care issues faced by women in Oklahoma and provide health information, screenings and demonstrations to the public, legislators, capitol staff, and other policy-makers while educating them about their issues. The FREE health fair is 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the fourth floor Capitol rotunda.

The Oklahoma City Downtown Lions Club is sponsoring the Oklahoma Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit, which is equipped to screen for glaucoma, diabetes, visual acuity, high blood pressure, cholesterol, basic pulmonary (lung) functioning and bone density problems. FREE screenings are 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Capitol Plaza.
