The Interfaith Alliance of Oklahoma participated in a program at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City on Monday, November 2 , that promoted the values of cultural and religious diversity.
The educational fair was planned by a senior at Carl Albert by the name of Olivia Hinson. Olivia called me to see if TIA OK could help. At the last minute several of our Board members became involved. Thanks to Sabi Singh, Charlene Marrow, Sarah Albahadily and Scott Jones the cultural diversity fair was a great success. There were also representatives from the Buddha Mind Monastery, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, and Atheists & Agnostics of Oklahoma.
More than 60 high school students joined in the two hour program that included booths and a round table discussion. I served as the moderator of the panel discussion and anchored the Interfaith Alliance of OK booth.
It was inspiring to see so many young people really interested in the concept of religious and cultural respect and freedom. This is the type of activity which TIA OK can support with great enthusiasm.
